WILHELM MOSER’s recent series Stone is the culmination of worldwide expeditions to sites of mysterious megaliths. These photographs are devoid of people, which enhance the desolation of these markers left behind by extinct civilizations. Capturing the majesty of these forlorn monuments, MOSER leaves intact the mysticism that surrounds them.
Printed using the closely guarded process developed by Theodore-Henri Fresson at the turn of the twentieth century, these photographs have an otherworldly atmosphere, which adds to the impenetrability of these massive carved stones. Direct carbon prints of each color separation using pigments instead of dyes on rag paper make this color process the most archival in use today.
